mozilla recommends you pay them $5 to $10 per month to avoid getting your credit card number stolen when you shop on insecure websites that don't use security technology that's been around since 1994

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/welcome/11/

remember, only by paying mozilla $60+ a year can you get the benefits of a free VPN while also giving mozilla money for some reason

also the FAQ linked from that ad states that
Do Firefox Browser welcome pages ever feature ads or sponsored content?
No, never. These pages feature only Firefox content.
Which means, unless they are lying to you in their official FAQ, the mozilla VPN is "firefox content"

whatever that means

also "it prevents shopping websites from charging more based on where you live" is a great idea assuming you never need to let the shopping website know, say, your shipping or billing address

to be fair it's difficult to advertise a vpn without either lying about how much safer it will make you, or outright saying "we'll help you circumvent laws"

anyway isn't this just rebadged mullvad? except mullvad doesn't have long term plans it's just 5€/mo. i don't see why anyone would prefer the mozilla branded version
